This essay explores the protest songs of the No-TAV movement, an Italian grassroots movement that has opposed the construction of the TAV infrastructure in the Susa Valley since the early 2000s. The essay is part of a field research project I began in 2018 and was published in Il de Martino, the journal of the Ernesto De Martino Institute.
The article served as the basis for developing the lecture below, presented at Short Theatre in Rome in September 2025.
